Wood Pile in the garden

Pile of Birch trunks

Today at Avery`s Garden Centre, Taunton, we cut down a large birch tree which had been crowded out by others around it. Its always a shame to have to cut down an established tree, but as well as providing logs for the fire, its a good idea to use some of the  tree to construct a wood pile  in which wild life, such as over wintering frogs and toads can use as a refugee. The tree therefore even after its cut down continues to harbour and encourage wild life in the garden.
