Happy New Gardening Year

January 5th, 2015

A chilly morning

An Air frost at Averys Garden Centre

Happy New Gardening Year to you all. Forget what all the political pundits are saying about the elections in May. Is Ed Milliband for the chop if labour fall by the wayside. Is Nigel  going to buy David a pint in commiseration of a poor showing, or is Cleggy going to live with Miram`s family in Portugal because the Libs want a fresh start.

Riveting as it is ,of far more importance is are you going to be ready for the heady days of gardening in May, with it`s longer, warmer days , plants and seeds, bursting with energy .

Now is the time to plan and get the garden and veg plot ready. Finish clearing away rubbish, digging , mulching, pruning apple trees and shrubs . It`s best to do as many of these jobs in the quieter times of the year, because  as the weather warms up and the days lengthen, nature accelerates from a standing start and can leave us trying to catch up.
