Witch Hazel

January 23rd, 2014

One of the most unusual and interesting flowers not lest because they flower in the depths of the winter are the Witch Hazels (Hamamelis )There are many varieties, with flowers, ranging from yellow in colour, through to red. Flowers are fragrant, growing on the bare winter stems, which catch the eye and evoke comment, by all who see this splash of colour in the grey days of winter.

Witch hazel are grown commercially in orchards, to be used in  treatments, to sooth eye irritations .
