Growing at Averys Garden Centre is this unusual shrub, Cornus kousa.

What appear to be creamy white flowers are in reality, bracts, which are modified leaves, which means the flowers last a long time.

Cornus kousa likes to grow in good soil, which is not too shallow.

It makes a good plant  for a woodland garden.

In  the autumn the leaves turn a rich bronze and crimson.
