Autumn foliage of Maidenhair tree (Ginkgo biloba)

November 12th, 2015

Growing within  Averys Garden Centre is a Maidenhair tree, which was planted to commemorate a young Downs syndrome boy called Kevin who passed away at as a teenager. The tree has taken a long time to get really established and grow away, but this year it has done really well and as can be seen by the photo, has put on a wonderful display of buttercup yellow leaves for the autumn.

I am sure that Kevin would be really thrilled with his tree.

Maidenhair trees are hardy and tolerate most conditions even pollution ,making them good street trees and are planted around sacred temples in Japan.
