Winter colour from Avery’s

December 4th, 2014

It is surprising that even in the depths of winter the amount of colour that comes from foliage, berries and coloured  stems of  some shrubs that  is available to the gardener.

Because most garden plants are dormant or have died down, colour of any sort stands out.

The coloured stems of Cornus and willows in their reds and yellows can be a show stopper especially if under planted with snowdrops.

The silvers and yellows foliage of Pittopsporums and Accubas and of course at this seasonal time variegated holly with its red berries.

Who that behind me???

Who’s that behind me???
